Thursday, September 24 was my last really long run. Next one will be the Leavenworth Oktoberfest half marathon on October 3!
Today we're going to follow the sign into Lake Stevens:
Heading west on 20th Street--leading to a little bit of a hill.

A nice little sidewalk by the trees...

Now I'm in town, and here are a few sights.

Leaving the park, I head up a road that hugs the lake, also called Lake Stevens. A nice strong breeze off the lake keeps me cool (for a while, anyway!).
There's a house that has the most glorious flowers...couldn't resist this combination of steps and blooms!
Now another gradual hill. At the top I turn around to head back. Here's looking down the hill:
Going back, another shot of the lake looking east with North Cove Park in the background.
Next I head back to the Centennial Trail and across the street is a brand-new park. Time to investigate!
I run up this long driveway, but find the way into the park barred by a gate. So it's not open yet. I take a few more photos...so here is a pristine new park, untouched by the masses!
Running back down the long driveway, I stop for a quick photo:
Next I hang out on the Centennial Trail for a while. The clouds are breaking up, just some puffy ones here and there:
I put in a few more miles, and enjoy traversing some trails through a park called Catherine Creek.
Somewhere around here, I surprised a gray squirrel, who ran away, stopped, then heard me still coming and ran some more, etc. Didn't try to photograph it--it was moving too much. Just tried for this shot of the afternoon sun through the trees.

Finally, after a restroom break, a little bit more on the Centennial Trail, and a few more loops on the Catherine Creek trails, I called it a day. I had done almost 11 miles, unfortunately, with a lot of stops. I'll have to keep track of the time next Saturday, so it doesn't take me all day to do 13.1 miles!
