Winter Misery One Miler

Noon on the Centennial Trail Tuesday, December 22...heading south from the 84th Street trail head, warming up for a virtual race! http://runninglaur.blogspot.com/2009/12/announcing-winter-misery-one-miler.html

Can't really see it in the photo, but the trail is turning slightly green from moss! (Better than white like last year at this time!)
Admiring the sunlight shining on the ferns...
Okay, no mug shots this time, just photos of my shadow! (And my favorite running tights and new Asics!)
Had to get a photo of that beautiful blue sky peeking out of the fluffy clouds!
Okay, one more shot of the trail ahead of me, as I prepare to run one mile. Reset my Garmin, and I'm off at 12:11 p.m.
Unfortunately, the trees here interfere with the satellite signal (GPS) a little bit, but I think it was close enough. My time was about 9:46 for the mile, and was in the same area I timed myself on last June. This time I was 5 seconds faster! I didn’t really run all out, as I didn’t want to tucker out too soon, nor did I want to do any vomiting (hee, hee). Maybe someday I’ll get my one mile down to 9 minutes!!! That would be good for me, a late 40-s old lady

Took some time to recover and take some more photos on the way back.
The sun is so far to the south up here in Washington State that this looks like almost sunset, when it's really barely 12:30 p.m.!
So it was a very nice day, even though the temperature was only 39 or 40 degrees--definitely not miserable! That would have been on the 21st when it was pouring rain! In my defense, I had a headache on Monday, for which I took pain medication that made me sleepy, so I just did not feel like getting soaking wet!
