Tag, You're It!

r their twitter and let them know you've tagged them.
One of my FB friends posted this on Facebook in response to her sister.... I thought it sounded really neat, so I decided to get in on it, too. :) So here we go:
There are 5 rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Post a picture of yourself and 10 random things about yourself that people may not (or may possibly?) know.
3. Answer the questions from the original post.
4. Create 10 new questions and tag people to answer them.
5. Go to their Facebook page and let them know you've tagged them.

10 Random Things About Me:

1. My mother was going on 36 when she had me in 1962 because of a fertility-related problem--which, if it hadn't cleared up on its own, I may never have been born, or I could be up to five years older if she had conceived earlier.

2. I took lessons on three instruments while growing up - piano, organ and flute. Also, I played bells and the xylophone briefly in high school band, and took a class in college to learn to play the alto saxophone for six intruments total! Lots of fun despite not a lot of talent!

3. I love to read all kinds of books (call me "book worm"), but in first through third grade, I would only read stories about animals. Finally, in fourth grade, when I'd ran out of animal books in the school library, my teacher persuaded me to read one of the "Little House on the Prairie" books. And "the rest is history"....

4. In 1984 I came to WA state (from Arizona) for the first time with new friends who were daughters of an old friend of my mom's. I fell in love with Mount Rainier, moved to WA a year later, and in 1986, I met my husband-to-be on a group hike near Mount Rainier!

5. When my older daughter got involved in running XC and track in middle school, plus swimming with a swim club, I was inspired to start running in 2004 and swimming in 2005--both of which I'd done as a child in grade school (P.E., lessons). In 2009 I finished my first sprint triathlon, and have been enjoying my "second childhood" for several years now!

6. I would like to do a full marathon at least once!

7. I am still waiting for a chance (clear day+time) to climb the trail to the top of Mount Pilchuck...although in 2010 I hiked to the top of a neighboring mountain with my hubby--Mount Dickerman--which is actually a much longer trail!

8. One of the most embarrassing days of my life: the day I had a big silly argument with my mom (about nothing, really) one week before my wedding, which my finance witnessed!

9. Random worst days of my life in the past decade or so: 9/11, my dad's unexpected death in December 2008, and finding out someone special three years my junior had a brain hemorrhage (January 2012.)

10. Two of the best days of my life: my wedding day and the day I gave birth to my first baby.
Other random best days: the day I met my best friend in the 6th grade; the day my best twin sister friends in H.S. took me ice skating and for ice cream afterward for my 16th birthday; and the day I met my husband-to-be.

Questions - answers:
  1. If you could have any pet in the world, what would you have? A horse.
  2. If you could do it again and either have kids (if you don't) or not have kids (if you do), would you change things? Note: This does not mean you do not love your children. My husband would say no, don't have kids. I would be torn in both directions.
  3. Do you believe in climate change? Yes.

  5. Where is your happy place? On the couch reading a really, really, really good book...or swimming laps.
  6. If you from 15 years ago could visit you now, what would surprise you from 15 years ago most. (If you are under 15, shut up. I hate you.) That I have done half marathons, triathlons, and 50+ mile bike rides.
  7. Where do you want to retire to? Tucson, AZ - maybe.
  8. If you had to choose one uniform for every day, what would you choose? PJ's, but since I can't get away with that, maybe my new fave--a running skirt (with capri's)!
  9. Okay I'm watching TV and they just showed an informercial. What informercial do you see that makes you seriously think, "I kinda want to buy that?" Not sure--I don't watch TV very much.
  10. Green thumb or brown thumb? In between somewhere....
