This event was organized and put on by a running group in Seattle called the Marathon Maniacs. They had water and Gatorade at the start and a long the route in a couple places, plus lots of snacks and hot pancakes starting at 10 a.m. for the finishers.
I didn't get very many photos--these are ones I shot before the start, then I put my camera back in the trunk of the car, as it is too heavy to carry for 13 miles! (Maybe next time I'll have this ultra light and tiny camera that I just ordered a few days ago!)
See their website: http://www.firstcalltorunmarathon.blogspot.com/. The results are up: I'm number 102 and Larry is 103. The time is the actual time we finished with an 8 a.m. start. Larry and I spent over 10 minutes getting water, stretching, plus I had to fix my shoelace a couple times!
The bridge over the Sammamish River:
We headed south on Sammamish River trail toward Redmond for 6.55 miles, then headed back.
The start and finish was at the table with the water jugs. Someone joked before we started that we should just run for the water!
It was a gorgeous day with a stiff breeze that came up after 9 a.m. Still it was quite warm around 10:30 a.m. for the last couple miles!

Hi Shirley, congratulations on your half marathon. When I was running a lot, 13.1 was my favorite distance. Lately I've developed an appreciation for the 5K!
The photo at the top of your blog is gorgeous!
