January Happenings - Trip to Yakima, Part 1

On Friday, January 2, we left for Yakima, WA, as the funeral for Larry's Aunt Alvina was on Saturday. The Snolquamie Pass over I-90 had been closed the day before, but everything was fine on Friday. There was so much snow that it was absolutely breathtaking! No chance to take photos until we stopped at a rest area east of the pass.


There was plenty of snow here, too, so you can get a little idea of what it was like up top. Too bad that it warmed up the following week and rained, causing avalanches and landslides that about destroyed the winter wonderland that it had been.

The north side faces the Yakima River that has a paved path running along it (about 10 miles in total length.)
