Beautiful Leavenworth and a 50th Wedding Aniversary Celebration

We enjoyed our "umpteenth" visit to Leavenworth last week. The food and musical entertainment were excellent once again. On Wednesday, we ate dinner at the Tumwater Inn. I had an interesting whole meal salad: hot BQ shredded pork and sauteed red bell pepper with apple slices, golden raisins and pecans on a bed of greens with raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Delicious! That evening we enjoyed the bible study meeting in Cashmere at the home of Don and Luann Magnus.

On Thursday, we met Larry's dad and brother Wayne to listen to music at the gazebo. We visited some of our favorite restaurants for delicious German food--Munchen Haus and Andreas Keller. On Friday evening we had loads of delicious German specialities at the King Ludwig restaurant. The accordion music and German music were wonderful also.

On the shopping front, I discover something new every year. This year: chocolate espresso candy (unfortunately, Caroline discovered them and ate most of them before I could share them with anyone else) and Scandinavian jams and spreads.

After returning from Leavenworth on Saturday, the 21st, we enjoyed a 50th anniversary celebration for our good friends, Ray and Virginia Saddler.

Saturday evening a thunderstorm came up over the mountains, which made for an interesting sky--stormy in the east and sunny in the west. Got a little rain and heard some distant thunder, but the storm mostly missed us.

That's a really nice picture of the Saddlers. I'm glad you had a good time in Leavenworth. It's a fun little town. Did you stop at the candy hut on the way back? Saltwater Taffy!!!!!!!

We've been to the "candy hut" a few times before (there's so much selection it's overwhelming!), but not this time. -S.
