Never take walking for granted!

Mom update: Starting June 11, I started noticing a marked improvement in my walking ability, so returned the crutches on the 15th, and just used my walking pole. Last week, I also walked for exercise with two trekking poles. By Saturday, I was walking well without any aid, and also could go up and down stairs normally. (But I have to be careful not to do overdo it on the stairs, as my leg/groin area is still a little sore.) I am still going to the chiropractor twice a week. I enjoy the adjustments as they make my back feel good, but I will still be glad when I get to taper down because of all of the money I have to spend on the co-payments.

I have almost full range of motion with my right leg now, so that I can get on my bike. Do I dare ride my bike again is the big question???? One suggestion I got from a bike shop employee where I bought my bike is to walk my bike across the intersections of the trail with streets, which is a good idea. I wish he could also demonstrate how to ride with my clipless pedals as it would be nice to see it done by someone else, rather than just me trying to do it with someone telling me what to do. I'm going to talk to the bike shop some more anyway.

Happy summer!

Hi, Shirley! Anxious to get outside and enjoy some of this sunshine, but just wanted to send greetings your way. Jen and I were just talking last night about being at the anniversary celebration and seeing you; too funny! Well, Happy Wednesday; hope you're having a great week!

Good luck--or should I say BETTER luck on the bike riding!
I just have regular pedals on mine, I watched a friend ride with the ones that clip into shoes, & I know I'd never be coordinated enough for that! I haven't gotten to ride as much this summer as I wish. I'm not going to AZ this summer after all. Too much with wedding planning & time frame. Maybe it will work out after the kids go back to school & Lynisha can come & watch the kids for me.

Hi Shirley - sorry to read about your bike accident. You might check out the Bike class schedule at the Seattle REI store - they have a women's Cycle fest and Women's bicycle maintenance classes.
