On April 24, Larry and I spent the day riding our bikes on Lopez Island ("Tour
de Lopez"). It is the best island for bike riding, as the roads have wide shoulders (although there are few tough hills!).

Agate Beach - south end of the island:

Agate Beach:

Lopez Village, looking west toward Fisherman Bay:

After we were done eating lunch and everything, we rode from Lopez Village to Humphrey Head, which is just east of the northern tip of the island, where friends live. This is the road leading up to the homes on the hill. (Another hill! I took a walk break....)

Arriving at our friends' house:

Larry on the porch talking to the husband of the house!

Meanwhile, I admired this attractive mound of pretty green moss and ferns:

The best view! Looking east - can see the ferry coming in, but not the ferry landing itself.

Looking northeast from the balcony:

On the ferry back to
Anacortes: The sun was starting to really break through the clouds in the late afternoon, after a rainy morning.

Larry, at the rail, trying to spy our friends' house, as we pass by...

The sun glaring off the water makes an interesting photo, except that in real life, the land beyond was much lighter (trees and homes).

The San
Juans are slipping behind us, waiting for us to return another day!

Meanwhile, another ferry streams westbound into the San
Juans:
